THE COACH: A Model of Success

With his level of experience, teaching skills, and ability to positively motivate Brian has helped athletes achieve goals from finish a sprint distance triathlon to compete in a Ironman distance Triathlon.  Brian has been competing in triathlons for 5 years and has experience in every distance from sprint to Ironman and has placed in several of these events. Brian has prepared training plans for athletes with various goals and specializes in swim coaching and nutritional counseling.

Brian is in his second year coaching as a PERSONAL BEST PERFORMACE coach.  PERSONAL BEST Performance, a multisport entity focused on helping others achieve their own personal best performance. PERSONAL BEST, has successfully brought new duathlon, triathlon, and national qualifying events to the western United States. PERSONAL BEST also provides training camps, clinics, and workshops addressing multisport athletes’ goals and ambitions.

Through his experience as an athlete, coach, and race director, Brian knows first hand what it takes to achieve success. Whether athletes are competing at a national level or preparing to enter their first season, PERSONAL BEST Performance has an individualized training plan focused on individual achievement.

PHILOSOPHY: Don’t just train hard, train smart!

There is nothing that motivates Brian more than someone who is willing to dream and back those dreams up with the desire to do what it takes to meet their goals.  By utilizing the most current training resources and developing insight through visualization, he formulates training plans that maximize individual athletes’ time, talent, and resources. The value of training smart is the key to Brian’s coaching philosophy. Periodization (the optimum amount of mileage and time combined with the right amount of energy output at key intervals) supplemented by proper nutrition (which is what I specialize in for an occupation) and appropriate recovery and rest is the secret to his coaching success.

CREED: The desire to win means nothing without the desire to train.
